Wikimania is an annual meeting organized by the Wikimedia Foundation. In 2012 it was in Washington, DC, and I (User:Matt) went along. Topics included MediaWiki software, user interface, editor tools, Wikipedia, and community building.
My top three takeaways
- If you dont have a community, you don't have a wiki
- MediaWiki is not just a wiki application, it's a web development platform
- "More Kirk, less Spock"
