A diagram for visualizing categories of oil and mineral reserves and resources. In its simplest form, it was apparently invented by Wikipedia:Vincent Ellis McKelvey, one-time director of the USGS. It has since been updated by a joint working group of the SPE, AAPG and WPC into a more comprehensive figure, shown below.
